Show Poplar rr.ovfe scli2dn!ed at Rivoli Theatre "Spartacus," the story of a Roman gladiator who led a revolt re-volt against Rome, began its run at the Rivoli yesterday. Boasting an all-star cast headed by Kirk Douglas and Laurence Olivier, the story deals with civilized man's unending un-ending struggle for freedom and dignity. To this has been added the story of a tortured , romance between the gladiator and the slave girl. This love is doomed to tragic ending as the defeated Roman rulers fight to hold their throne of wealth and glory. Peter Ustinov won an A-cademy A-cademy award as Best-Supporting actor of the year, for his performance as the owner and trainer of the gladiators. Ustinav and Charles have great fun stealing their comedy scenes from each other and the result is fine comic relief re-lief from this towering drama. Due to the length of the movie the Saturday Kids Mat- inee will start at 1:30 this week only. The kids show will be "Sheepman" with Glen Ford. |
