Tilers during the week at the Holley home were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Spurrier of Laie Hawaii with their five children. chil-dren. Mr. Spurrier is studying on his Doctors degree at the USU at Logan, but plans to make Hawaii his home after receiving his diploma. Mrs. Mabel Hopla has enjoyed en-joyed a visit from her mother, Mrs. Ida Strong and a niece Linda Ann Strong from Nor-walk, Nor-walk, Calif., who have spent a week with her. While here Mrs. Strong also visited with her brother, Mr. Charles Wood in Spanish Fork. Other recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Hopla has been her daughter Margene (Mrs. Merlin Jones) and her daughter daugh-ter Karen Lee of Las Vegas. Spending the holiday week end at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks has been their son Blair and his family from Bountiful. While here they all joined for a barbequed supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cornell Binks in Payson with Mr. and Mrs. Glade Binks and family of Springville participating. Several Mapleton babies were blessed Sunday in the Mapleton ward. Among the happy parents were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Davies, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Behrman and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hutchings. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Binks and young son Douglas of Fon-tana, Fon-tana, Calif., left for their home Saturday after spending two weeks visiting with relatives and friends in Mapleton, Springville and Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Bennett Ben-nett are home after a delightful delight-ful trip to Los Angeles where they visited with their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Shaws. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Warren, War-ren, who have been making their home in Idaho during the summer months spent the week end in Mapleton visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wel-by Wel-by S. Warren. Gunnison will be their future home where Darrell plans to teach school this year. Mr. S. La veil Bird left Sunday for Norman, Idaho where he will spend the next month selling crop insurance. The opening social for the MIA was held September 5 jointly with the Mapleton Second ward. I commenced at 7:30 o'clock the regular starting time for the winter season. There will be a dance with Wes Barry's Orchestra and refreshments will be ser-. ser-. ved. Monday, Sept. 11 -will be i award night for the Girls pro-. pro-. gram of MIA Maids, laurels and Gleaners are inviting their mothers as special guests for ; the evening. |
