Brookside School reports news Our current big project has been our annual Spring Dance Festival which we presented for our parents and friends yesterday afternoon, The theme this year was "Alice in Wonderland." Won-derland." Pretty costumes and a lot of colorful decorations added to the affair. Each class presented one dance. Two dances dan-ces were given by the entire group and one dance featured the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Michael Davis was the reader and Valerie Allan Al-lan was Alice. One of Miss Davis' fourth son and Brenda Huff celebrate birthdays this week. The hopscotch and marble tournaments in our school have been completed with Danny Lamb emerging champ in marble playing followed by Randy Mock, second; and Michael Davis, third. All are from Mr. Allred's sixth grade. Janice Garrett won the hopscotch hop-scotch playoffs ' witb. Karolyn Hickman coming in second and Sherry Pyper and La Nell Weight close behind. Mr. Poulsen's fifth grade reading groups have prepared a play and a skit which they will present for the school on Friday. In the cast of "The Silent Si-lent Prince", a play, is Gary Carter, Karla Shepherd, Don Conrad, Julie Castleton, Linda Mecham, Linda Miller, Bert Bartholomew, Bruce Rigby and Karl Childs. The skit is titled "How to 1 Tell Bad News" and features Richard Frandsen, a vacationer, vacation-er, and Brent Taylor, a servant. serv-ant. On Thursday, Paul Boman, an ROTC instructor at BYU is bringing a program about missiles and survival from missile blasts to show to our school. - - in o r r pared a play of "Pandora." They use a hand movie to illustrate illus-trate the story. These girls have enjoyed performing for several classes in the school. Other reading groups have developed de-veloped plays for dramatization from their fourth grade reading. read-ing. To them' this is a "fun" part of reading. Mrs. LeRoy's second grade is having tests to see how many spelling words they know. Most of them know nearly all the words they have had so far, and so are getting to be very good readers.
