Show International Affairs Subject of Club Talk Meeting at the home of Mrs. Francis Hazel Thursday evening even-ing of last week, members of the Pari Passu club heard an interesting talk by a BYU assistant as-sistant professor of political science, on international affairs. af-fairs. The speaker was Dr. Robert Ro-bert B. Riggs, introduced by Mrs. D. LaRell Johnson, in charge of the club program for the evening. Dr. Riggs commented on the circumstances surrounding the various conflicts in which the U. S. has engaged to the present cold war in which he described the United States and Russia as two major powers pow-ers each fearing the other. He explained the purpose of foreign for-eign aid and also noted that in some instances it had been misused. A question and answer session ses-sion followed the talk which proved most educational to the group. Mrs. Ray Lofgran, president, conducted short business. The hostess served lunch to fifteen members at the close of the meeting. |
