Show Students take merit tests Fourteen students on the top scholastic record of the Junior Jun-ior class were selected this week and took the National Merit three-hour Scholarship qualifying tests, announced Glen Seal, student counselor. They are: Janet Bird, Betty Snelson, Ruth Bramall, Mary Ellen Clyde, James Sheffield, Dorothy Hall, Don Holdaway, Charlene Lewis, John Reese, Lynn Robertson, Steven Sumsion Sum-sion and Richard Taylor. Also at the request of Sears, David Keim and Joan Gill took the tests. Minimum scholarship awards in 1961 will be $100 for those who pass the exams. The average ave-rage in 1959 was $743. Schlorships are made available avail-able by many well-known universities uni-versities for those making the highest scores in the test. |
