Show lewA YoteA . . . The W. Jay Smarts were happy to have as their house guest recently, Mrs. Harold N. Felsted of Pullman, Washington, Washing-ton, whose daughter, Effie Lou, attending BYU, has just become be-come engaged to Merrill Jay Smart. Mrs. Felster enjoyed a visit with her son, Harold, who has spent the past 4 years at BYU and has now joined the armed forces, being assigned to Fort Ord, Calif. Enroute home, Mrs. Felsted visited with relatives rela-tives in Salt Lake City and Preston and Boise, Idaho. James V. Brailsford of 785 E. 10th So., Springville, graduated gradu-ated from recruit training March 20 at the Naval Training Train-ing Center, San Diego, Calif. The graduation exercises marking mark-ing the end of nine weeks of "boot camp," included a full dress parade and review before military officials and civilian . dignitaries. In nine weeks of instruction, the "raw recruit" is developed into a Navy Bluejacket, Blue-jacket, ready for duty with the fleet. Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Ivie and daughters, Kirsten Kae and Julie Ann, have returned to their home in Pamona, Calif., after spending the spring vacation vaca-tion in Springville visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Beardall and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Ivie. Mrs. Ivie is the former for-mer Carol Beardall. During their stay, several family get-togethers get-togethers were given including a dinner Wednesday evening given by Mr. and Mrs. Beardall Bear-dall at their home. Mrs. J. M. Hunter left by plane Tuesday for Portland, Oregon to visit her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Hanson (Phyllis Hunter) Hun-ter) and make the acquaintance acquain-tance of a new grandson born Tuesday morning at a Portland Port-land Hospital. The new arrival has two sisters. |
