Show Floyd Graves Wins Keg Tourney; Perrero-Frazier Take Doubles Floyd Graves walked off with the Springville Spring-ville City Bowling Tournament at the Art City Lanes during the past week in the singles event while Marty Perrero and Blaine Frazier were the doubles' doub-les' kings of the meet. Ruffs Garage claimed the team championship honors of the event and Merv Redden, congenial owner of Art City Lanes, took time out long enough to participate and was high man on the all-events totem to-tem pole. One highlight of the meet was the high scratch score of 268 posted by Lloyd Whitehead. He also rang up an impressive 636 series. Pete Birrell also bowled high for a 610 score, good enough for second spot The annual bowling event was for members of Springville Spring-ville Men's Bowling Association, Associa-tion, bowling 3 games for singles sing-les and 3 for doubles. The all-events score represented the combined total for an individual in-dividual bowling in the meet. Results: (singles) Floyd Graves, 635; (his wife won the same honors in the recently-played recently-played women's tournament) ; Bill Frederickson, 620; Bill Daniels, 606; Buck Lamphere, 600; Paul Weight, 598; Pete Birrell, 596. Bill Frederickson won the scratch score with 594 pins. Doubles Marty Perrero and Blaine Frazier, 1235; Dick Wiley Wi-ley and Merv Redden, 1231; Lloyd Whitehead and Ray Clark, 1204; Bert Palfreyman and Ed Johnson, 1190; Steve Miller and Jesse Barton, 1164. High scratch went to Dick Wiley Wi-ley and Merv Redden with 1159. Team scores Ruff's Garage, 2855; Dot and Martys, 2797; Hi-Land Dairy, 2733; Miner's Auto, 2727. High scratch score went to Ruff's with 2810 pins. All-events Merv Redden, 1804; Bill Frederickson, 1772; Pete Birrell, 1739. High scratch Pete Birrell with 1727 pins. Winners were awarded prizes at the conclusion of team play. |
