"This practical application of knowledge gained by engineers during armory training thru-out thru-out the year proves beneficial not only to the National Guard but the civilian government as well," explained Gen. While most Utah Army National Na-tional Guardsmen will train at the Camp W. G. Williams military mili-tary reservation in the Jordan Narrows, the engineers will revert re-vert to the mountains of three Utah counties for a vigorous two-weeks of building and improving im-proving forest roads, according accord-ing to Maj. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, Utah Adjutant General. Two separate units, the 116th Lt. Eguipment Co. of Springville Spring-ville and the 118th Dump Truck Co., American Fork, will assist on the American Fork project. Heber City's 117th Engineer En-gineer Co., a panel bridge company, com-pany, will transport its men and equipment to all three areas under construction during dur-ing the two-weeks to practice erecting and using the "Bailey Bridge," a portable, prefabricated prefabri-cated span. The Engineers will also receive re-ceive regular field training, including in-cluding fortifications and mine field training, simultaneously |
