Show CITY COUNCILMATTERS. Feb. 16, 1903. The council met in regular session. ses-sion. On motion council adjourned to Feb. 19th. Feb. 19th, council met as per adjournment, Mayor Anderson presiding. pre-siding. Roll called, all present. On motion Councilman Tennant was elected Recorder pro tern. G. E. Bench, in behalf of the Farmers' Institute, petitioned the council to take necessary steps to have a decree of court rendered, establishing the several water rights of the people. Councilman Becker moved that the Mayor appoint a committee of two to consult with the attorney in relation to the matter, mat-ter, and report at next meeting; motion carried. The Mayor ap- ?iointed Councilmen Becker and 'nttle as said committee. On motion of Councilman Becker Beck-er the petition of Leslie Harmon and others (relative to band instruments) instru-ments) was taken from the table. The Mayor reported in connection with said petition that he had, as instructed, conferred with the attorney, at-torney, and that his opinion was that we could not legally make such an appropriation. On motion the report of the Mayor was accepted and petition denied. Committee on Public Grounds, in connection with Engineer, reported re-ported on platting the unplatted portion of cemetery, recommending that the lots be platted in squares. Report accepted and Engineer instructed in-structed to plat same as recommended. recom-mended. Councilman Tuttle moved that the Engineer plat the entire cemetery; carried. Bill of R. M. Bell Telephone Co. for $1.30, allowed. The following resolution of condolence con-dolence was unanimously passed: Resolved, That we extend to Recorder George Scott our sincere sympathy in the loss of his estimable esti-mable wife, and may the Allwise Creator comfort and console him and his family in this hour of sorrow. sor-row.
