Show The sad intelligence of the death o of Miss Nina Barton reached this city last Wednesday by telegram. Her death occurred on Tuesday, March 3, at Magrath, Canada, at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Christian Chris-tian Poulsen (nee Miss Sarah Barton), Bar-ton), formerly of Manti. She was the daughter of Ethelbert Barton, who resides in Castle Valley, her mother having died some years ago. Nina was 14 years of age and was unusually bright and lovable. The Philharmonic Lady Quartette Quar-tette gave a most excellent concert at the opera house on Friday evening, even-ing, and it was thoroughly enjoyed. The solos, duets and quartettes were finished and artistic, and there was. a variety which made the program particularly pleasing. Miss Elizabeth Eliza-beth Ferguson possesses an exceptional excep-tional contralto voice. It is not going beyond the truth when we say that Miss Daisy Torrey is the best elocutionist ever heard here. Died At her home in this city Saturday, March 7, 1903, Amanda Ilenrie, wife of Daniel Ilenrie, after af-ter a lingering illness. Deceased was the daughter of Bishop George W. Bradley and Betsey Kroll, and P. C. Larson has moved his shoe shop to the brick building opposite oppo-site the Tabernacle. Dr. II. R. Clark went to Emery county Monday, to practice his profession of dentistry. Miss Sally Brereton of Provo is visiting friends in the city and is the guest of Miss Mamie Hall. A dance will be given at the opera house on Friday evening, under the auspices of the M. I. A. Attorneys Ferdinand Ericksen and J. W. Cherry of Mt. Pleasant, are in the city attending district court. Tuttle returned home Sunday from Alameda, California, where he went to attend the bedside of his daughter, Mrs. E. T. IIos-ford. IIos-ford. When he left her she was recovering rapidly. The little daughter of Matt Warner, War-ner, living with her grandmother, Mrs. Christiansen, has recovered from her attack of scarlet fever, and the quarantine on the home was raised Monday. -T7 i. r i 'l. was born in Clarence, Erie county, 1ST. Y.. on January 15th, 1829. At an early age she went with her parents par-ents to Nauvoo, Ills., where she joined the Church of Latter-day Saints. She married Daniel Ilenrie Ilen-rie in 1819, and the following year came to Manti with her husband and her parents. Together they passed through the troublous times of the early pioneers. Deceased was a good woman and her life work has been a noble one. She was the mother of fourteen children, chil-dren, of whom seven daughters and four sons and the aged husband survive. She has a numerous posterity. pos-terity. Her father was among the first settlers of Manti, but later removed to Moroni. In the district court this week John Edmunds of Wales was sentenced sen-tenced to four years in the penitentiary peniten-tiary for grand larceny, his motion for a new trial having been denied. His attorney, W. K. Reid, will take an appeal to the Supreme court. Joe Hill of Fountain Green, was arraigned in the district court on Monday on the charge of having carnal knowledge of a female, a resident of this city. He pleaded guilty to the charge, and this morning morn-ing was sentenced by Judge Johnson John-son to two years in the penitentiary.
