Show COUNTY XEWS. SPRING CITY MAN SUICIDES. E. R. Rasmussen Cuts His Throat With a Razor. Mt. Pleasant Pyramid. E. A. Billington reached Spring City last Thursday with the body of E. R. Rasmussen. "When it had been learned by the relatives that the young man was dead in Montana, Mon-tana, they hardly felt equal to the task of going for the remains, so a kind offer from Mr. Billing-ton to make the trip was accepted. The young man was found in Miles City, Montana, cold in death. It was at first thought that he had met with foul play, but after Mr. Billington reached there he soon learned that it was a case of suicide, sui-cide, planned and premeditated, according to a piece of poetry left by the deceased, which told the sad tale of a wasted life and plead for forgiveness. Mr. Rasmussen left Spring City about a year ago and went to Mon- tana, where he has been employed with sheep. According to the evidence evi-dence at the coroner's inquest he had left the sheep and come to town, where his actions aroused the suspicion that he was slightly demented. On the 24th day of February Mr. Rasmussen went to a drug store and purchased a razor. From there he repaired to his room at a lodging house where, at about 7 o'clock in the evening, he cut his throat in such a manner as to cause immediate death. Here he was found next morning. The theory of suicide was fully established by the coroner's jury in their investi- gations. Mr. Rasmussen leaves a bank account of over 2,000, and other personal effects. He was raised in Spring City and resided there continuously con-tinuously up to about 0 or 8 years ago. lie was known as an industrious, indus-trious, honest and inoffensive young man. His poor mother, who is very aged, is prostrated with grief, as are also his brothers and sisters, and they have the sympathy of the whole community. The funeral was held Saturday. |
