Show A report has been circulated in some parts of the county, obviously in the interest of some candidates who are incompetent, and are so considered by their friends. The substance of this report is that the compensation of deputies of the county officers is paid out of the salary of the county officer in whose department the deputy is employed, and for that reason, it is argued, it is immaterial to the public whether a candidate for office is competent or not. The report is as false as anything can be. The salary of every deputy in the court house is paid out of the county treasury, and is in addition to the full salaries sala-ries of all the county officers for whom the deputies work. The voters of the county must not be deceived by any such false and flimsy apologies for incompetent candidates. The interests of the people of the county will best be subserved by the election of the Democratic ticket, for each and every candidate on that ticket is specially competent and qualified, and for whom no apologies need be made. |
