Show 1 tt 4 Ar y u GRANITE CONTACT FINDS t d GOOD ORE AT DEPTH The last week has witnessed several sev-eral Important developments on the 1C flrnnlto Contact property 4r tiI There wns ore and lots of It Uvory 9 one It noun that who him seen tho s 1 property Hut the multi question f which no ono could know has now boon settled That Is the oro has j depth t There has been little to say for the i lust two or three weeks regarding ho development of this property Attention Atten-tion has been given almost entirely k to opening I the largest ore bodied at 14 j b depth I This has necessitated long tunnel driving mid sinking of shafts i through country lock Hut t tho work a i IH not dead work as this weeks developments + de-velopments Have shown v f k TlilB kind of work appeals to a mining t I min-ing man It shows faith In the property prop-erty and there are thousands of dollars t dol-lars locally waiting to become Interested 1 4 In-terested In the company as soon ns aurd I I tho two big ledges are opened at depth The company Is working on the principle that two or three good ledges cut at depth appeals to mining min-ing judgment more than open cutting a dozen surface ledges In fact the richest ledge on the property that on the No 2 claim IH lying Idle for the present because It cannot be as ad vantagoouslj worked now as will bo possible a 1 little Intel when It will be developed on the same plah ait the NOH 1 f and Contact claims at present pres-ent The moat Important although not the richest strike on the property so far was crosscutting Into the ledge on the Contact claim at the bottom of the fiftyfoot shaft Although It has been known that the ledge was a good ono and that It went down with them UH size or average values have not been known The reason Is this The ground Is very soft at this point If tho shaft had been sunk on the ledge following tho ore It would have necessitated careful timbering all tho way Consequently Con-sequently the shnft has been sunk on the foot wall using tho ledge as a support Some timbering has been done also As said before at fifty feet n crosscut was run to tho hang lug wall bringing to light a four foot ledge samples from which have been taken which It Is believed will run high In both gold and silver They will drift both ways on the lodge at this depth The cast drift has just been started and It will soon bo possible to Increase the force to advantage putting a couple of men In the west drift On the big ledge of No n claim the shaft Is down fifty feet and ut this depth work was temporarily suspended suspend-ed Foreman Fountain says that ho Is going to crosscut for the walls at this depth and believes It will prove Homo very Interesting fact Tho ledgo Is thlrtyflvo feet wide on the surface and If as wide at fifty feet with equally rich values there will be a wonderful oro body In sight In the tunnel at the bottom of the hill being driven to catch this deposit de-posit two blind lodges have been cut carrying fairly good gold values but tho greatest interest Is being taken In the results of encountering tho big ledge The tunnel will glvo a vertical verti-cal depth of about 200 feet on this big ledge and upon reaching the point of Intersection with the shaft if no better bet-ter than at tho surface It will place at the least calculation 800000 cubic feet of are In sight or about 107000 tons On No 1 claim a rich ledge has just been discovered near the contact of tho lime and granite The ore from this ledge Is full of galena like the rich Hoyt ore and In the pan yields an estimated 500 string of colors and In addition a large amount of concentrates and probably 200 or MO ounces silver No assays have been taken Tho ledge Is not large but Its extreme richness will warrant Its development de-velopment Foreman Fountain believes be-lieves It to bo a stringer to n large ledge which will he found on tho contact con-tact of the limo and granite and with this aim is starting a tunnel down the hillside and will follow this ledge which is leading at right angles for tho limo contact At the junction of this ledge with the contact Fountain believes ho will find one of tho richest rich-est mines In the district The tunnel will have to be driven only a little over 100 feet to determine this and will bo In high grade ore all the way It will give a vertical depth of about 100 feet Two new ledges have just been discovered dis-covered on this claim both of which yield line strings of gold In the pan The outcrop Is strong all the way up the hillside and pieces broken off anywhere any-where show largo spots of galena which is characteristic of Skidoos richest ore On No 4 claim a vertical shaft Is I sunk thirty feet to catch a fourfoot I ledge dipping townttl It Ten feet I more work will be necessary to do this and Fountain bays that he will crosscut the short distance between tho shaft and the ledge to bee if surface sur-face values still hold and then resume re-sume sinking A large shop has been put up and a blacksmith is Kept busy sharpening tools Tho road has been extended and i caches tho hill overlooking tho main workings Fium this point the hillside is I very steep and building tho road farther would be heavy works and c not altogether necessary a work-s supplies sup-plies are now handled nearly to the ooliit where the principal work Is going
