C'of froth, the man who has at aged more championship fights than a ny promoter in ihe world, may be considered an important im-portant factor in the bidding- for the heavyweight championship bout between Georges Carpentier and Jack Dempsey. Jack Kearns, manager of the champion, is authority for the above statement, Coffroth is at San Diego, awaiting the th'ting of the bars that will permit him to resume horse racing on his Tiajuana, Mexico, track, where he will hold the fight if successful in getting it. In a wire to Kearns, Co f froth asks that no bids he accepted as final until he has a chance to enter his own. Furthermore. Kearns thinks that Coffroth Cof-froth has the best chance of any American Ameri-can promoter for success In promoting the affair. Should the bout go to Tiajuana, it will be over the forty-five-round route, a distance dis-tance that is not permitted in any state in this country. V.'ith the racing season open, the southern track is a drawing card, atid with the championship fight to augment it Coffroth could afford to pay a fabulous sum for the privilege of stag-lug stag-lug the bout. |
