Show TRUCK SALES CUTLOOX DECUUePRDMISHG Nash Sales Manager Shows I Trend Toward Individual Buying of Power Wagons. Never has the sales outlook of the truck industry been more promising- than it is today, in the opinion of P. J. O'Carrol, manager of. the Pacific-Nash company, distributors in this territory for Nash passenger cars and trucks. "I base my opinion on information I have recently received from the Nash company," said Mr. O'Carrol. "Experts in the employ of the Nash factory have recently completed a survey of the truck situation taking in not only the present increase of? business, but the various indications of the future as a whole. "Truck sales today are becoming more and more individual sales instead of corporation cor-poration sales as in the past. Corporation sales always exist and the additional market mar-ket Is .found in individuals who purchase trucks for contract work and farmers who have awakened to the fact that it is not always profitable to confine their load to the capacity-.of their touring car tonneau. Farmers have found that bigger loads on the truck mean bigger returns from the same amount of effort and time spent. "The wholesale angle today is very bright because dealers who have been strictly car dealers in the past have gone through the war period with curtailed output and are now going over the unprecedented un-precedented .demand for motor cars at a time when a sufficient number of cars are not available. "They the dealers realize that they cannot secure a sufficient number of cars to meet the demand and to maintain the pace of their organizations they must have the stabilizing influence in their business which comes with a truck line. "The truck is a twelve-months-tn-the-yeai-' selling proposition, while car sales are up and down, according to the season. The passenger car business is dependent upon the ability and luck of ths dealer in obtaining cars from the factory. "The government is giving valuable assistance as-sistance in its educational work with the traffic man and the farmer, to whom it is demonstrating the value of motor truck hauling. "Such an educational propaganda means sales. In some parts of America large contractors who sublet their hauling are unable to get equipment, and this in itself it-self means more individual sales. "A tremendous amount of roadwork Is already under way in the majority of the states of the Union, and this likewise means more sales to the individuals who are doing the work. "I ca.n see nothing to worry about in the truck sales outlook today." |
