W. Brown, who has been acting supply officer of-ficer since. There have been discharged from the Salt Lake office since its opening, 1878 men. The disbursements for this period pe-riod amount to $230,000, making aji average of $122 paid each man. The $60 bonuses paid all discharged men amount to $110,530. The cost of transportation trans-portation to return men to their homes totals $53,343.75. The largest amount paid out for transport to one man. during dur-ing the operation of the office was $133.35, paid, to Chief Yeoman H. A. Wiley, who was discharged October 31, and sent to his homo iu Portland, Me. The Salt Lake office was originally intended to accommodate men living in Utah, Idaho and Nevada, but Supply Officer Brown said that men have been sent to more than forty states from Salt Lake. The five men serving in the demobilization demobil-ization office have been transferred elsewhere. Supply Officer Brown has been granted twenty days leave and will then report to the receiving ship in San Francisco. W ENLIST IN NAM AM Prospective Fifty Per Cent Increase in Pay Stimulates Stimu-lates Recruiting. Lieutenant Commander Richard H. Mann, senior naval officer on recruiting recruit-ing duty in the district of Utah, said yesterday that a large percentage of the recently discharged men who entered en-tered the service for the war period onlj', have re-cnlisted for periods of two, three and four years and it is probable, he says, that when congress passes the fifty per cent increase in pay bill for enlisted men many more will return to the service.
