Show BANKS ASK REBATE ON TAX INTEREST Representatives of Zion's Savings Bank & Trust company and of McCornick & Co., Bankers, were heard yesterday by the board of county commissioners on a plea for rebate of the interest upon ta moneys which both institutions have owed since KU5 through having protested the taxes with notice of intention to contest con-test them in the courts. As a result oJ" the county's victory before the supremo court In the case of the Continental National Na-tional bank, the other banks are dlspoecil to settle. The board requested a written statement state-ment of what the banks desire by way nf compromise that legal advice may be obtained ob-tained as to whe' her it is within the power of the board of commissioners to make the concessions asked. The situation situa-tion is an outgrowth of the action of former for-mer Assessor A- H. Parsons in Increasing the assessments of banks in 1916, basing valuations upon the market values of their stocks. The principal owing the county from Zion's Savings Bank Trust company totals $35,735.31, and from McCornick & Co., HI, 138.65. |
