Show Nffl OFFICERS 1 ILL PERISHED WITH THE SHIP Additional Details Concerning Concern-ing Loss of the Florence H. by Explosion Received in New York. 29 OF CIVILIAN CREW MISSING In Addition 17 of the Naval Guard Went Down When Vessel Was Destroyed r Off French Coast. NTSW YORK, April 26. Captain F. J. Buttorficld, and all the deck officers of the American steamship Florence H., now are believed to have lost their lives when that ship was destroyed by au explosion, April 17, while off the French coast. A list of survivors, received re-ceived here today by cable from the American consul at Brest, does not contain con-tain their names. It also is shown that only two of the engine-room officers escaped es-caped uninjured, the others being reported re-ported as badly burned. A checking up of the cabled list with the record of the crew filed with the United States shipping commissioner commis-sioner here when the Florence H. sailed, shows that out of fifty-six men in the civilian crew, twenty-nine are dead or missing, twelve are in hospitals badly burned, two are slightly burned and only thirteen escaped uninjured. There is a possibility, however, officials of-ficials of the United States shipping board here said, that some of the missing miss-ing may yet be accounted for, but as the Florence H. was near a port when the ciplosiou occurred this hope is remote. re-mote.
