Van I'elt this morning at 10 o'clock. He was arrested last Saturday night at the instance of Postoftice Inspector Haas, and since that time has been in the county coun-ty jail ba default of bail. Jarvis was in charge of a special car, the "Oklahoma," beloir-'ini; to the International Inter-national Exhibition .V: Sales company, ottering ot-tering for sale Indian lands in the southeastern south-eastern portion of Oklahoma, where, according ac-cording to oflicials of the land office, there is not a foot of land for sale. Patronage was sought through alluring advertisements published in some of the local newspapers. L'evelopments proved that the International Exhibition & Sales company had no connection whatever with the go eminent and was not authorized au-thorized to ofi'.-r tile lands. The car "Oklahoma" was moved to I?oise on Mav 2T, a few days after its arrival in Salt Lake, Jams, it is believed, be-lieved, having received a "tip" that a Government investigation was bein made. Jarvis. was formerly associated with the MeAlcsier Real Kstvue exchange, which, tisintr a special car and making a similar land proposition to that of the International Exhibition - Sales company, com-pany, operated in Salt Lke during June, 1017. |
