Show RAILROADS ADOPT GOVERNMENT SIGN 3 Windows of Consolidated Ticket Office Now Bear Notication of Federal Fed-eral Control. Symbolizing government operation of the nation's railroads, glass panes at the ticket offices in the Hotel Utah were yesterday yes-terday inscribed with the legend, "United States Railroad Administration." The new title appears in modest black letters, without any gilded or silvered embellishments em-bellishments or ornate shadings. The letters let-ters themselves seem to bespeak economical econom-ical intent. The new title supplants the old inscription, which individualized the offices as those of one particular company, com-pany, incorporated in rivalry and conducted con-ducted in competition with all other transportation trans-portation institutions whose rails stretch across the country. . Directly below the new title, out in smaller letters, appears another inscription, inscrip-tion, "Consolidated Offices," explaining that hereafter, or at least for the period of the war, all ticket-selling business in Salt Lake will be conducted in this single office L. J. Kves of the O. S. L. has been elected to direct the affairs of the United States railroad administration in Salt Lake. |
