Show 50 BELIEVED TO HAVE PERISHED 30 More Bodies Removed From Wreckage of Ruff Building, Chain Grocery and Beaumont Market. j CAUSE OF DISASTER ! IS NOT DETERMINED ' ! Some of Victims Probably Incinerated; Rescuers See Charred Remains Under Smouldering Timbers. i SIOUX CITY, Iowa, June 30. Burrowing Burrow-ing deep under tons of wreckage, firemen and volunteers today removed thirty more bodies from the wreckage of the Ruff building, which collapsed yesterday afternoon after-noon at Fourth and Douglas, and an-, an-, nounced that the toll of the disaster may reach fifty. , It is probable several persons were com- pletely incinerated, judging from the condition con-dition of most of the bodies removed this afternoon. Toiling unceasingly, some of them so . weak 1 tire y "wobbled after their twenty-two twenty-two hours, workers could see parts of charred bodies still deep under smouldering smoulder-ing timbers and so badly burned they could not be sure they were men or women. i The opening of the Cham grocery store, Ruff building, revealed, the extent of the Ruff building revealed the extent of the disaster. Thirty-five volunteer motor trucks removed debris so rapidly this morning that the ruins of the crowded grocery store were entered six hours ahead of schedule. Burned Alive in Cells. Men found in the ruins were burned alive in cells, pinned down by wreckage, their positions indicated. Cause of the diaster has not been determined. de-termined. Some of the persons who were in the -wrecked building at the time of the collapse asserted that it was due to an ammonia explosion in the Chain grocery gro-cery or the Beaumont market, while others oth-ers asserted it was due to reconstruction work which was going on in the Ruff building. W. J. Becker, vice president of the Ruff company, said that the first floor of the building had been lowered eight to ten inches, but that this work had been completed com-pleted three days ago.
