| Show 1 colored louisville ky sept 25 special delegates from twelve states were present this morning afe tho opening of the annual session of the supreme lodee of the order of colored brothern and sisters ef honor W T pay ten of this city the supreme adviser presided and welcomed the delegates in his annual report supreme secretary D F porter jr said that the brother hood occupied a place not heretofore filled in secret societies for the past eight years and up to may last it was controlled by white men but at present it was managed and under the entire control of colored people in the month da philanthropic lady who did not desire her name made public saw fit to aid the race through the organization by placing ten thousand dollars subject to the order of alie supreme lode for the sole purpose of paying legal claims for death benefits this had enabled the lodge to so engage its law aa to grant benefits ranging from five hundred to one thousand dollars at an average cost of thirty to cents manthay dues since the changes the membership of the order had largely increased and now exceeded ten thousand the grand lodge will be in session for three days |
