Show california MISSION it Is in a very ous condition enquirer correspondence during the last month we have been favored with visits from apostle A H cannon and elder walter beck and daughter and elder john beatie and wife of salt lake city wo had been notified of the coming of apostle cannon and had anticipated an enjoyable and instructive time during his visit but the rush of business for which he was sent here compelled him to leave to the great disappointment of the saints without having the chance to address them in one of our meetings the other brethren however who were out for the sake of health and pleasure kindly consented to speak in our sunday evening services the occasion being well advertised drew out a large audience of people who listened to the speakers with great appreciation at present we are enjoying the society of elder john of ogden father of one of the laboring elders of this city and elder M F brown bishop of the first ward ogden is also in the state and we expect to see him before hia return home we hope it circumstances cum stances do not interfere to hear from them in our meetings while they are visiting with us investigators of the gospel as well as the saints are always desirous of hearing from elders who come out from home and much good is done in that way in creating an interest in the gospel this mission which has by many of the saints been considered unfruitful and thought to be abandoned is beginning to show prospects of good results to flow from our labors even now though the work in this state is comparatively ively new more have embraced the gospel in the last few months than in other fields where the elders have been preaching for years just lately ten have been baptized in the southern part of the state one of whom is a late graduate of the harvard college the newspapers continue favorable to the cause in which we are laboring the three great dailies of this city frequently give lengthy reports of discourses delivered by our speakers and in this way the principles are carried to thousands whom they could not otherwise reach we have been pleased lately to receive letters of introduction from the saints at home to their friends living in this state we encourage the idea and kindly invite others to do the same it enables us to form acquaintances that may lead to good results some sickness has existed among the saints here but the afflicted ones have now recovered and health and good feeling prevails we gratefully acknowledge the receipt of your paper but we have lately removed our headquarters from van ness ave to mcallister st and would kindly ask that the address be changed ever praying for the welfare of zion and the spreading of truth I 1 am A SAN franciscan missionary mcallaster st san francisco california |
