HEARS REPORT OF INTENDED RAID Troopers Ordered to Border to Protect Citizens From Expected Attack of Marauders. NOG ALES, Ariz., Jan. 1. Three towns were raided and looted and a Southern Pacific de Mexico train held up yesterday by bandits operating between here and Cananea, Sonora, according: to reports reaching here today. Three hundred hun-dred federal soldiers have been ordered from J-Jermosillo to take up pursuit of the marauders. AUSTIN, Tex.. Jan. 1. Every available Texas ranger has been dispatched to Alpine Al-pine and vicinity by Adjutant General Harley on receipt of reports that Mexicans Mexi-cans were planning; a raid over the border. It is said the rangers ordered to the border number about eighty men. The orders were issued last night, it was announced today by the adjutant general's department. No details have been received here with reference to the trouble. MEXICO CITY, Jan. 1. The government govern-ment announces that the tax on gold and silver produced in Mexico in January will vary only slightly from the December Decem-ber rates. This makes the tax on metals about 5 per cent. A Mexico City dispatch dated Monday said the tax on gold and silver, according to reports, would be increased to 10 per cent ad valorem on New Year's day. |
