"Williams's resignation as federal arbitrator of labor la-bor disputes arising In the packing industry in-dustry was announced today at a meeting of the Chicago Federation of Labor by William Foster, secretary of the stockyards stock-yards labor council. Mr. Williams's appointment was asxeed upon last Christmas morning by packers and representatives of even- craft employed em-ployed in the packing- industry, after conferences con-ferences with the federal mediation commission. com-mission. All points at issue between the packers and their employees were to be left to Mr. Williams for final adjustment. Last week a delegation of labor representatives repre-sentatives went to Washington to urg-e President Wilson to take over tho nation's na-tion's packing industry, declaring that the packers had broken the Christmas agreement. They said that union employees em-ployees had been discriminated against in the yards. |
