Tbe 'indictments follow civil suits brought by about sixty colonists who s; cned contracts to purhae land and water rights under the Miiford project, but who left the project with the declaration declara-tion that they had sned the contracts under misrepresentation. Local officers of the Delta company say these colon lss were disgruntled because be-cause they did not succeed in making a fortune in th.e space of a tew months. Th-y declare a "business hunting" attorney attor-ney was the source cf the trouble and that those who remained on the land are satisfied. While, the civil cases were being tried n the superior court of California, federal fed-eral authorities attended the hearings.
