IDENTIFICATION of Charles Bert Sharp of Salt Lake, reported as missing in action since September 29, . has been made. Mr. Sharp Is in a hospital in Belgium, having been wounded in actiom Thomas M. Hatfield of Springville has been wounded, as has William S. Davis of Salt Lake. Roland M. Block of Garfield is recovering from illness in a hospital in Belgium. Mr. and Mrs. Amoa Hatfield of Springville Spring-ville were notified yesterday by the war department of the-serious injury of their son. Thomas M. Hatfield, in action on October 30. A letter also received from the boy says he is recovering in a hospital hos-pital in England. The letter is dated just a week after the injury was received. re-ceived. He is a brother of Golden Hatfield, Hat-field, who died of influenza on November 19 while a member of the students' army training corps at Logan. Roland M. Black; son of the late J. S. Black of Garfield, is in a hospital in Belgium, recovering from illness due to exposure in the trenches. Mr. Black, a member of the Ninety-first division, has been through the hardest fighting in which that division took part. The new3 of his Illness was contained in a letter to his sister, Mrs. J. A. Young of Magna. William S. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Davis. Thirteenth South street and the Redwood road, was injured in the foot whiie in action on October 22. The young man is now in a hospital. Mr. Davis, who is 27 years old, was inducted in-ducted into service here on June 25 last and was sent to Camp Lewis and later transferred to Camp Kearny. From that point he Joined H company, 111th infantry, in-fantry, arriving in France on August 2-0. Mr. Davis is married, Mrs. Davis having hav-ing formerly been Miss Eva M. Bills, an employee of the Deseret News. Charles Bert Sharp, son of Charles P. Sharp of South State street, beyond Murray, Mur-ray, who was reported missing since September Sep-tember 29, has been located in a base hospital hos-pital in France. Private Sharp, who is a member of H company, 362nd infantry, was wounded in action the latter part of September. He left Salt Lake to enter the army April 27 last. |
