On tlila point Mr. Christcnsen n;ii3 yesterday: Tho Salt T.alte parents, Rnardiana and matrons need not be alarmed over the "rot" appearing in some of t he newspapers referring to the dances tor the comiiiK season. The American National Association Wasters Was-ters or Dancing in convention at the Hotel Astor, New York, August 22 to September 3, Ha I'epuanled the American Amer-ican public and compiled dances that will reflect the style, and refinement refine-ment of our better citizens. These social dances will bo simple, modest, consistent, beautiful and thereiore desirable. An Improved one-step, fox trot, combination waltz and a. tun&o will be the offering of the A. N. A. M. of 1. and will no doubt be accepted by the public, because they will be real da rices. The music for the one-steps should lie stlrriuK military marches and not "rntfH." In fact, thkh or jazz "rot" should not be played for any of the new dances, because they are not appropriate, ap-propriate, nor are they acceptable to people of taste. There is n unscrupulous organization organiza-tion representing the bowery type, which is trying to popularize some silly Jazz dances and vulgar jazz dance music, but educated folk will not accept this stuff, because they know there Is something belter, and that it is not necessary to accept i these low standards to enjoy social dancing. The A. N. A. Ct D. stands for safe anil sane darues, music and dancing. Ami more: On Angus 27 this association instituted a proposition proposi-tion which means everything to dancing as a dignified and a worthy art, by adopting the report of an appointed ap-pointed committee founding a ballet bal-let school for standard technique, to Vie known as the American National Ballet school, with the famous Ste-f:no Ste-f:no Ma sea m no, premier dancer and European ballet muster, the principal instructor. The best points In all the ballet schools of tho old world will be incorporated in-corporated in the work in the new school, and, as our Uncle Sammy will evidently have to father the arts, it might not be an Idle dream to hope that before long a helping hand may be extended to the A. N. A. M". of D. In this splendid and far-reaching undertaking. |
