Show FORMER WYOMING BANKER IS ARRESTED George M. McDonald Will Be Brought Back to Face Larceny Charge. ; Special to The Tribune. CHETEXXE, Wyo., Dec. 13. -Governor Houx has issued extradition papers for George M. McDonald, promoter of a string of private banks in four Wyoming counties, coun-ties, who disappeared last September after three of his banks had been closed bv the state examine-. McDonald is under un-der arrest at San Francisco, it being alleged al-leged that he converted to his fown use $410 obtained on a check' given him by P. B. Riffe of Casper to be deposited in the Ctizens' State bank of Casper. McDonald, who is about 30 years of age, appeared in Wyoming last spring and proceeded to organize a string of banks. He borrowed liberally from the banks which he organized and lived at Casper in magnificent style, maintaining five automobiles. In September the state bank examiner investigated his actions-and actions-and closed the McDonald private hanks at Cbugwater and Glendo. Simultaneously, the sheriff of Platte county seized the assets of a third bank at Uva. McDonald promptly disappeared from Casper, leaving by automobile. Subsequent Sub-sequent investigation revea.led that the banks named and others which he promoted pro-moted held many thousands of dollars of his paper. He avoided arrest until traced to San Francisco through the automobile in which he fled from Casper. |
