Show INSPECTS PROPERTIES II LUKOISTIIICT Says Ore Values Will Increase In-crease in Proportion to Depth. i . RKXO. Dec. 9. Captain John C. Skuse, mining engineer for the Kirchen Mines coiporatlon and consulting engineer for the Pilot Copper company, has just returned re-turned from an inspection of the properties proper-ties at Liming prior to his leaving for Camp Lewis at American Lake, Wash., Tirliora ha line licon nrilnrnil 1 rMinrt t'or duty with the Ninety-first division. When asked for an expression regarding regard-ing the mines of the Liming district, and la re developments there, Captain Skuae said; The results of development in tlie lower tunnel of the U. Patrick mine of the Kirchen Minos corporation prove conclusively ihe correctness of the theory upon which the mine has been developed to date that ns depth is attained the values increase and ; the ore bodies are of greater magnl-j magnl-j tude and demonstrated per ma neney. i The showings in the face of the tunnel tun-nel and in the stopes just back of the face are very strong and theso openings open-ings are producing a good tonnago of high grade shipping ore. The ore hi the face Is identical In character with the rich ore mined on the 10 level I above, from which point the bulk of the tonnage shipped during the past i summer has been extracted. There j is every likelihood that the tunnel. j in advancink a short distance, will enter the heart of the downward extension ex-tension of this L'O ore shoot, and should prove to be a prolific producer of high erade ore. The immense tonnage of medium and lower grade ore in the Pilot Copper Cop-per company's Champion mines which would keep a reduction plant busy for a long time has been considerably con-siderably augmented by development prosecuted since my last visit, while steady shipments of higher grade ore have been going to the smelter at the same time. On the Anderson property, recently acquired by the PMIot company, com-pany, the improvement Is even more marked, one ore body which is being stoned being eighteen feet in width and the ore of shipping grade. The limited time at my disposal prevented me from visiting other properties, prop-erties, but from trustworthy sources I am assured that there has been stea-dy improvement In nearly all. with a particularly fine showing at the Wall street mine. The R. B. Todd Mining company, for which Captain Skuse was formerly consulting con-sulting engineer, has made unusually favorable fa-vorable arrangements for treating all of the silicious ores of their mine with J. C. Brumblay. representative of the United States Smelting & Refining company at the latter's Kennett, Cal., plant. Shipments Ship-ments from the old workings on the Abe Lincoln and Cevita claims will begin as soon as possible. The Luning, Idaho, company also secured se-cured a very favorable contract on Its copper ores from the United states company com-pany and the first shipment under this arrangement will go out during the week. |
