Show Health News Local health officers throughout through-out the state reported a total of 711 cases of communicable disease for the week ending March 8. This is 13 cases fewer than were reported last week and 107 cases fewer than for the corresponding cor-responding week in 1939. Measles led the field with a total of 264 cases. There was quite a marked increase in-crease in the number of cases of whooping cough over the previous pre-vious week. Out of a total of 217 cases, Washington county reported report-ed 136 and Salt Lake county 67. One case of typhoid fever was reported from Carbon county. One case of tularemia was reported re-ported from Wayne county. The infection resulted from the handling handl-ing of a cotton-tail rabbit. The public is again warned to use care in the handling of all wild rabbits. If gloves are worn by those who dress the rabbits and the meat is thoroughly cooked there is little danger of contracting contract-ing the infection. O |
