Show SUPERMAN WAS RIGHT There would be mighty lew wars if they could be handled as the comic strip character Superman did it: put the two men responsible for war between the front line trenches and let them fight it out between themselves. Along this line, the Kmporia Gazette comments: "Newspapers are publishing, nearly 215 years after our entrance in the first World war, statements released from Washington which easily might have influenced our entrance, perhaps might have kept us out". It develops that Wilson was starling on a course in 1915 that would have put us into the war at that time, but the following fol-lowing year he ran for re-election with the slogan: "He kept us out of war " The Gazette continues its comments: "Under cover, diplomats are always doing and saying things in international crises of which the people may know-nothing know-nothing Diplomats commit governments and governments call out soldiers. The governments tell the soldiers what they are fighting for, and the governments sometimes knows it's all a lie. "If we only knew today what is going on in Washington, our history in the next two years would change significantly. We are the best-informed people in the world. But even so, the best informed people in the world cannot keep up with their plug-hatted diplomats who work behind the scenes." |
