Show MEN 101 HOOVER Will Serve Without Pay; Food Administrator Confers Con-fers With President. WASHINGTON", May 24. Offers to serve without compensation in the un-tional un-tional food administration, were received in great numbers today at the administration adminis-tration offices opened yesterday by Her-, bert C. Hoover. "No names were made public, but it was said a surprising number num-ber of prominent and able business men were among the volunteers. Mr. Hoover will select the men who are to work with him without delay and will proceed with organization of the administration to lie. ready to start work as soon as congress passes the food bills. Today he went over details at a conference with President Wilson. The food administration will be di vided iuto four branches. 'The first will comprise a number of separate executive bodies for regulation of certain cer-tain com mod it ies, organized along the lines of commercial institutions, with a board of directors, a president and executive officers, who will work out problems involved in handling the commodities com-modities and who w-i!l institute measures mea-sures necessary to regulate distribution and prices. The membership of the executive bodies will comprise leading producers, distributors, bankers twd consumers. The second branch will handle matters mat-ters of co-operation with the stages and will direct local distribution of foodstuffs and seek to prevent illegal practices. The third branch will deal with questions of domestic, economy and will put before the women of the country a plan of organization to conserve foods within the household. The fourth branch will have to do with food exports and prnhahlv will assist as-sist in purchasing for the allies and the European neutral countries to eliminate elimi-nate competition and to force down price. Today Mr. Hoover received telecram from more than half the state governors gover-nors promising the fullest co-operation. Some even offered to rail special sessions ses-sions of their legislatures to take up measures of aid for the administration.
