Show mm GUEST OF SALT LAKE K. BF G, Executive Speaks of What He Hopes to Accomplish During Term, Governor Simon Bamberger was the guest of honor at a reception given last night by Salt Lake council. Knights of Columbus, at the Hotel Utah. Nearly 500 knights and their friends were on hand to personally greet the executive. The governor reviewed the programme which lie hoped to carry out during his Incumbency, and said that he expected to give the people of Utah a sound business busi-ness administration. Touching upon j party pitches, the governor assured his ! audience tiiat the ante-election promises ; made by the Democratic party were going go-ing to be carried out as far as he was able to control affairs. He spoke of the grav- ; :ty of the situation which confronts the country at this time, and expressed the hope that affairs would reach a favorable conclusion. In case of a crisis, however, i President Wilson would find himself supported sup-ported by millions of loyal American citizens, citi-zens, not the least conspicuous of whom would be the Knights of Columbus, the governor said. Bishop Joseph S. Glass, in a brief address, ad-dress, praised the knights for their loyalty loyal-ty to their church and country, calling attention at-tention to t lie fact that patriotism was the basic principal of the organization. Others to address the gathering were Attorney General Dan B. Shields; Dr. J. J. Galligan, state deputy and lecturer of Salt Lake council ; William H. Leary. dean of the law school of the University of Utah, and A. C. Sullivan, grand knight of Salt Lake council. The speakers were introduced by Dean William H. Deary, who, with A. J. Bruneau and T. J. O'Brien, formed the entertainment committee. com-mittee. Between addresses an orchestra played and a buffet luncheon and cigars were served. |
