Show 3 BILL we have received from hon jona JOHN T cain 11 it entitled A bill to enable the people of utah to form a constitution and state government and to be admitted into the tha union ghion on an equal footing with the tha original states it is an measure from our point of view view being fully up to date in all ail the details for the admission of territories ri but we believe mr C 1 I will learn that it is ia a mistake to attempt to have congress pass at this term a separate enabling act for utah all or none of the territories will have to be admitted public sentiment is against any any special admission or any particular omission which latter fact was strongly evidenced in the case of the omission of arizona at the first republican cau coq cuq most congressmen feel that our territorial system ought to be abolished and they would therefore vote for an omnibus bill whereas they would be opposed to any se separate admi admissions hence we believe that our hopes lio lie mainly with the senate omnibus bill or the amended new mexico admission hill bill as it is more properly called fur for these reasons we think it impolitic for our delegate to his enabling act for utah it can never pass the present congress |
