Show IDAHO REGIMEHT IS TO BE MID II FULL Checks From Timothy Re- gan and Governor Alex-j Alex-j 1 ander Complete Fund. i Special to The Tribune. x BOISE, Idaho, .Dec. 25, The Second Idaho regiment received a genuine Christmas Christ-mas present today, a check for $5000, presented by Timothy Regan, pioneer business man ofNJdaho, to' go toward paying pay-ing the troops the money due them from the state. The check was voluntarily offered by Mr. Regan. It was accepted by Governor Alexander. The chief ex-ecitive ex-ecitive added a second Christmas present in his personal check for $1500, making a total of ti500, which, with the amount , on hand to the state's credit, will meet j the total obligation of $7333.50. j This means that the regiment will re-j re-j ceive t lie ofher half of th" uay due its i officers and enlistee, mn prior to the i time it was mustered into the service of the United States. The money now on hand may be disbursed to the regiment regi-ment during the present week. When Mr. Regan learned through the press that, following a conference with the governor, an agreement could not be reached toward advancing the money owing to the fact that personal security from the chief executive was required, he called upon the governor and said he stood prepared to write a cneek for $5000 or to advance the loan requested. Lieutenant John M. Regan, who returned re-turned from the border Saturday, a short time later presented the check for that amount signed by his father and made payable to tiie state's chief executive. Adjutant General Moody announced to- 1 day that the first and only ofiicial review of the regiment in its entirety by the governor following its return from the I Mexican border will take place next Monday Mon-day morning at 11 o'clock before a reviewing re-viewing stand to be erected in front of the capitol on Jefferson street. The entire en-tire state Is invited to be present when the grand review is held. |
