Show NEW YORK, Oct. 20. Apparently ! there was no loss of life on the Amen- ;can schooner Jennie E. Righter, sunk; by a Germau submarine, as the records I of the United" States shipping commissioner commis-sioner here show that t lie vessel carried car-ried only nine men when she left New York September 12 for Havre, France, in command of Captain Stephen Black. These included five Americans. The schooner, owned by the Shepard & Morse Lumber company of this city, was valued at $o0,000. She carried 3500 barrels of lubricating oil, owned by the Vacuum Oil company. The vessel was built at. New Haven, Conn., in 1SS7. |
