The feature fea-ture match of today's play in the second round of the western golf championship was between Douglas Giant, northern California champion, and Jack Neville, former state of California titleholder. Grant defeated Neville on the final green by a single putt. Both men played high quality golf. At the eloe of the morning round of eighteen holes Neville secured the lead and was t wo up. The a ft er noon combat was nip and tuck all the way. On the twelfth preen Neville missed u short putt for tho advantage and from then on his plav was a bit off color. Two down at the thirteenth. Grant took the next hole with a smart four and became be-came all even afler halving the next two. At the seventh hole he laid his tee shot dead to the pin t'r.r a two.
