REPUBLICANS ARE CONFIDENT OF VICTORY IN IOWA DES MOTXKS, Iowa. July 19 Victory for the Republican party in Iowa was freely predicted tonight at the close of the state convention, which mot here today, adopted a platform favoring prohibition and good roads and nominated If. M. H.ivner of Marnego for attorney penera! and John Guiher of Wlnterset for railroad commissioner. The threatened split over the attorney genera Ishlp was completely smoothed over, it was said, by the. motion which came from Polk county to make the nomination nom-ination of Mr. Knvner unanimous, and leaders were emphatic in declaring that at the present time there is no discord in the party ranks. The platform makers, commenting on the work, said tonight thn t the plat form as adopted insured the success of the party at the polls next fall.
