Show WORK OH WEND01ER ROAD IS TO BE STARTED AT ONCE Committee in Charge of Link in Transcontinental Automobile Highway Feels No Doubt About Ability to Raise Funds. started the .ball Tolling for the Wen-(lover Wen-(lover route. It is believed by them that the line-up of business men" named to take charge of this work will convince con-vince all that they mean business' and that Salt Lake at last is to have an outlet for automobile travel to the west. It is believed the committee in charge of raising funds will not have much trouble because the business interests of Salt Lake probablv all realize the necessity for this route. The hundreds of tourists who have lined the streets of Salt Lake this summer have given an inkling of what may be expected in the future, when a good road is given them to travel over". In spite of the heavy travel, nrobably Salt Lake did not, see more than half the travel, the rest going north of the lake and missing miss-ing Salt Lake City altogether. With the Wendover route completed this will be impossible. WITH everything ready, the work of actual construction of the Wendover link of the transcontinental trans-continental automobile .highway .high-way and the raising of funds to build and completo the route will commence com-mence at once. Usually on a proposition proposi-tion of this kind the committee to raise funds starts first, but so much enthusiasm enthusi-asm has been shown and so many offers to subscribe to the fund have been made that the general committee of business men who started the movement move-ment a week ago has decided to begin actual work on the road. Will Rush Work. It is intended to rush work this fall, while the weather is good, so that the finishing touches on the road can ,be made next spring. This will put the road in good condition for next year's travel. A committee is to be named, in charge of S. D. Evaus, to attend to this end of the work. Tnis committee will see to it that work is pushed, but that no money is spent if the weather conditions make it impossible to get the best returns for the expenditure. Mr. Evans will select a committee ot five business men of the city to help him in this work. , During tho past five years Mr. Evans has given considerable time and spent about $1000 personally on preliminary work to push the Wendover road through. For this reason it is thought he is the best man to take charge of this important branch of the work. Tt is intended by the committee to raise $40,000 to build and complete this road. This committee will consist of Lester D. Freed, Lawrence Green, John HJransford and George Relt, and n chairman still to be named. This committee com-mittee of Salt Lake's knost representative representa-tive business men will do the heavy work, that is, raise the necessary funds. A preliminary canvass Bhows this can be done.
