Show WILL PAY AT ONCE. The Atchison, Topeka &. Santa Fe Railroad company has established a precedent by assumiug responsibility f or the loss of life, injury to persons and destruction of property incident to the explosion of a tank car of gasoline at Ardmore, Oklahoma, last week. The company will not wait for judgment of the courts, but will settle in cash as soon as the merits of individual cases can be ascertained. As forty-seven persons per-sons were killed, a large number injured in-jured and damage to the amount of half a million dollars done by the explosion, ex-plosion, the Santa Fe will have a large bill to foot when the claims are all adjusted. It would be possible to delay de-lay payment for an indefinite length of time by an appeal to the courts, but in tfie end the railroad company would be compelled to settle. So the Santa Fe will save money by paying up as soon as possible, and there can be no question, ques-tion, as to ' the "wisdom of President Ripley and the board of directors in establishing the precedent. |
