Show ORPHEUM PROMISES MUHPATRONS When the Orpheum theater opens Its second season in Its new home ln this city August 30 it will be one of the most handsomely decorated houses In tbe United Sta tea It a so Is the promise of the managemen that the best In vaude v lie wt be presented to the t?Jt Lake public dur ng the 1914 IS season O Albert Lansburgh arch tect for the Orpbeum circuit who drew the plana for the new local house arrived In the city late last night on his way from New York to hla home In San Francisco While In New York Mr Lansburgh held conferences with President MyerfieW and General Manager Beck regarding tbe fu ture of the new house. Discussing the new decorative plans for the ocal house Mr Lansburgh said Patrons of our local house are to see something new In the way of pa ntlngs Within a few days Her man Russe the noted Holland painter will arrl e In Salt Lake and before he leases he will have finished for the local Orpheum three great mural paintings In passing It may be said hat Mr Russe was the artist who painted the pictures which dec orate the dome of the peace palace at The Hague The th ee g eat panels will represent Music and Dance Tragedy and Comedy Mr Lansburgh also announced that a contract had been et to Mitchell Hal bock of Chicago to redecorate the ent re house to conform to the three mural pa ntlngs and that a contract had a so been let to the same company for add tlona draperv and s k elour which w mean that the house w 1 be more cozr comfortable and n It ng than ever befo e Speaking of the shows that may be ex pected in Sa t Lake during the coming season Mr Lansburgh said I have the assurance from Mr Meyerfield and Mr Beck that the pa Irons of the Salt Lake house wi 1 get the best of everything Salt Lake Is a good show town Its repu tatlon In this regard being: nation wide During the coming season we expect to give Salt Lake the best of everything that Is offered with a chance fo a number of surprises in which the critics of Sa t Lake will ha e the first opportun ty to te 1 just what they think of the acts The new manager of the theater wi 1 be Edward Levy of San Francisco who s e pected to arrl e In a t Lake In a few d s Mr Levy s a fo mer news I ape man and the press work for the ho se w a so be under h s supervision, Mr Le y s the former manager of the Chutes at San Francisco and at the p esent time Is the assistant manager 0f the e pos t on |
