Show MAY My LEASES CHIEF Gl GROUND Rich Ore Body Recently Opened Up Extends Into Adjoining Claim. The May Day Mining & Milling: com pany on the property of which company lessees recently opened up a body of high grade lead silver ore, hare obtained a lease on an adjoining' claim owned by the Chief Consolidated company The ore is said to extend into this claim. When it was first found on the May Day some very heavy shipments were made from it, says the Eureka Reporter During the time that the block of ground was worked under lease by Kitt and MItche 1 something like U0 000 worth of ore was taken out and s nee that time the May Day company s men have succeeded in opening up another large stope some distance nearer the surface. After pushing a raise into the ore a drift was sent out for the purpose of follow lng the vein still farther toward the south and It la this drift which has now reached the Chief Consolidated line, with practically a full face of high grade o e showing This portion of the Chief Consolidated ground was pur -chased quite recently from Captain H. H. Sow es and associates and before It was taken over by this company it was known as the Apex It includes a strip of ground which reaches from the northern end of the May Day over to the Anaconda property now a part of the Uncle 5am on the south I On all ore shipped from this section of the company s holdings the Chief Con I solidated company wl 1 receive a sub Btantial roalty but the off clals of the May Day company state that there is a chance for the ore to make back Into their ground after the vein has been fol lowed a little farther to the south. The sinking of the main shaft on the Eagle & B ue Be 1 has started The shaft ttHH enmlr Ptwm th IXfl fnAt taVAl tn the 1700 foot level and the mine force has been Increased by ten men for this work. This piece of shaft wortc will no doubt be completed within elx weeks and. ; In order that it may be handled with out Interfering with the regular mining i operations a donkey engine has been in I stal ed at the 1550 station The Eagle & i Blue Bell mine has an enviable record for rapid shaft work, the last 13o feet , of the sinking having been accomplished in one month and Superintendent Owens is quite sure that the miners will be cut ting the station on the 1 00 level six weeks from the day on which the sink lng was taken up John TVesterdahl, who Is superintend lng the work over at the Tintic Stand ard property states that he has just finished cutting out a station on the 1000 level, where a larger engine will be in stalled preparatory to hoisting the ore from the 1100 and UWOMevels and it will probably be two weeks before the Siand ard Is in shape for ore production.
