Show OPPOSITION WINS PANAMA ELECTION PANAMA, July 5. The opposition candidates can-didates for the national assembly won from the government candidates in what is considered the quietest election ever held in Panama. The contest was between be-tween two factions of the Liberal party, that undeY Carlos Mendoza, former president presi-dent of Panama, gaining a decisive victory vic-tory over the faction of which President Belisario Porras Is the head. The result Is considered important because be-cause of the possibility that it will eliminate elim-inate the Porras candidate, Dr. Ramon Valdez. ex-minister to the United States, from the presidential race two years hence. The balloting was fairly orderly and was not supervised by the American authorities. |
