Show Water Is Rough. POUGTiKEEPSlE, N. Y., June IS. The continued unfavorable rowing conditions on the Hudson have put the six coaches and fifteen crews of the X.'niversities of ; Cornell, Wisconsin. Pennsylvania, Syra-; Syra-; cuse. Columbia and Washington on the anxious seat, and the strain is being felt in the various quarters along the course, i The water this evening was so rough that Cornell and Syracuse did not venture out. The Pennsylvania crews had a narrow nar-row escape from being swamped by rollers from a steamer. The varsity race here will be a fight between Cornell, Washington and Wisconsin. Wis-consin. If the prediction made today by Coach Hiram Connibear of the Washington Wash-ington crew comes true. Tiiis was a reply to the prediction made by Coach Rice of Columbia. "There is a doubt in my mind," said Connibear, "if the Columbia crew is going go-ing to have the endurance for the four miles." All the coaches are of the opinion that the crews need more hard work, because of tiie curtailment of practice made neces- i sary the past week by rough weather. |
