Show YALE AND HARVARD READY FOR THE GUN Forty-eighth Annual Boat Race Promises to Be Hard Fought LONDON. June IS. Orasmen and their supporters assembled here for the annual regatta between the crews of Yale and Harvard universities wait on the weather man tonight. With his consent and co-operation, the forty-eighth i rowing carnival between these famous American universities will be held on the Thames tomorrow. A forecast of fair weather removed the last doubt from the minds of the thousands of spectators who are quartered here on the eve of the races. Tonight New London is thronged' with the advance guard of thousands who will line the banks of the Thames and follow the races on observation trains, A Harvard pool of $1000 offered against $3000, that the Cambridge crews would sweep the river, found no takers. At odds of 5 to 4, the crimson supporters were unable to draw out any Yale money on either side of the three races of tomorrow. |
