Billy Queal, tho American champion, who was favorite in tho hotting, was second, almost two laps behind tho fl3'ing Englishman. Qucal made a .splendid effort against Woods and forced the pace all tho Avay to tho thirteenth mile, when Woods boan a scries, of gruelling sprints which soon took 'all tho fight out of the American. Amer-ican. Queal beat Alfred Scrubb by three-quarters of n. lap for second money. Queal 's lime for tho distance was 1:21:02 4-5. Ted Crooks, the American, was fourth.
