Another ovidenco of tho esteem In which the Utah Agricultural Agricul-tural collego la held In tho educational world was rccolved In tho tender to Professor Pro-fessor George M. Turpln of tho Utah Agricultural Ag-ricultural collego of a professorship In the State Agricultural college of Iowa, popularly popu-larly known as Ames college. Tho offer ramo by telegraph yesterday nnd has been duly accepted by Professor Turpln The local man will havo chargo of thn department of poultry husbandry, and It la safe to say that there is perhaps no other western man bettor .qualified to till this position than is Mr. Turpln. Ho ro-ceived ro-ceived his degree of B. S. from the Utah Agricultural collego In 1909 and since that tlmo ho has been in active charge of the departniont of poultry husbandry at the stale Institution at Logan. During Dur-ing that tlmo ho has built up this department depart-ment of the work until it has become a potent factor in tho department of poultry industry throughout the state. Professor Turpln expects to take up his new duties October 1. The new position, In addition to being one of great inllu-enoe, inllu-enoe, carries with it a salary of $2500. In this connection it is of Interest to know that two of tho graduates of the l.'lah Agricultural college will be on the staff of Ames collego this coming year. The other is Orson G. Lloyd, a Logan city boy, who will havo charge of the newly established department of agricultural agricul-tural economics. Mr. Lloyd was a graduate gradu-ate of the class of 1910 from tho Agricultural Agricul-tural college. Since leaving here ho has been pursuing his studies along his chosen lino at the University of Wisconsin, from which ho graduated with the degroe of M. A. Inst year. Both appointments come as a distinct compliment to the state Institution In-stitution at Logan and will be received with much pleasure by friends of the two fortunate young men. |
