Show YEARS AGO In Bingham (August 30, 1918) F. W. Quinn, popular city clerk, left for a two or three week trip in the east, to. visit relatives in Iowa and to go sight-sering sight-sering in New York City and Washington, D. C. Word was received of the injury in-jury of William II. Gibson, son of A. B. Gibson and innnbor of the Royal Flying corps on the Picardy front. 1300 school children were preparing pre-paring for classes to begin Sept. 3. Snnuiel Goldberg and Miss Esther Es-ther Brisk were married Aug. 25 at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Theo M. Chesler. Rabbi Samuel Baskin of Salt Lake City performed the ceremony. (August 28, 1930) Steve Strilich, idol of local matmen, was having a most successful suc-cessful season on the coust, according ac-cording to the California papers. The speed and prowess of the young Jugo-Slav from Highland Boy won him the title of "Cyclone "Cy-clone Steve". II. B. Avon, prominent Bingham Bing-ham business man, was elected district governor at the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho district convention of the International Kiwanis club held itt Salt Lake City. A. A. MacKo, veteran of the Bingham volunteer fire department, depart-ment, was chosen president of the Utah State Firemen's association at the convention held in Provo. Among those given life memberships mem-berships in the organization were Wilford II. Harris of Bingham. John Vranos was a leading candidate for the position of center cen-ter on Coach Dick Homney's 1!)30 edition Utah Aggies. |
