Show MORE BELMONT ORE C0M1GJ) MARKET Goldfield Shipper Has Some Fine Grade Rock Coming Com-ing to Smelters. Special to The Tribune. GOLD FIELD. Nov, Feb. 1 1. Shipments of ore have boon ren timed from the Gold-field Gold-field Belmont, and Urn or? is Of excellent grade, according to an official statement mado today by Manager Homer O'Con-ncIJ. O'Con-ncIJ. Returns from the last shipments have boon In the neighborhood of JS5 pnr ton. t'nc proportion of the metals blng four ounces of gold and ten ounces silver. This ore comes from the stones on the 350-foot level, where the ore body la of good size and excellent uniform value and nearly twice as long a3 on the HOO-foot level. Stoning was stopped temporarily on this level to permit of sinking- the winze another lift without interruption. The station has ben cut ln the winze on tho .(flft-fl-M-ll ttvol rvurl 41, n 1,-lft la fnllrtn.- ing the vein and has already picked up the point of the ore sYioot near the hanging hang-ing wall, indicating that It Is considerably consider-ably larger at this depth than even on the SfiO-foot level. The ore appears In this drift In tho form of r scam that is constantly widening as tho drift progresses pro-gresses alone: tho vein. Manager O'Connell stated that sinking will continue at once and at fifty feet doener another station will be cut and ft drift driven to prepare for stoplng. This system will bo followed as long as It vlclds good results. It may bo decided later to open a working shaft at this point, as the winze from w'nleh this ore Is taken is 7.0 feet from the main shaft Thus fur there has been little difficulty and no Interruption of work on account of water In (he mine, but with greater depth it Is probable that there will be more water, and owing to the distance from the Phaft a. strong flow of water might render the work more costly than If t'nere were immediate access to the surface. The opening of another shaft at this po.nt would be a matter of compiira-tivftiy compiira-tivftiy small expense, as this vertical wlnez extends from tho 300 to tho 400 level, and there Is another wins above Jt that has been sunk for some distance from the 150-foot level. 13y connecting the two winzes by raising from the lower and then raising from the Ktonos on the lnO to tho surface, the rtiaft could be completed at no great cost. Whether this will be done depends upon tho results re-sults of development on deeper levels and on tho quantitv of water encountered encoun-tered I'nder the present svstem of operating the ore Is extractor! in an economical manner, and there has been a continued improvement with depth. The Goldfield Belmont has latelv granted a. lease covering' a block 600 feet sjiuavo on tho Quarrzite Nb. 1 claim to t romer fc 1-Jrlckson. who have been working a leaso on tho adjoining Bull-oog Bull-oog propfrty. and wYio are reported to hae a shipment of good ore readv to send to the sampler from this property The lessees will drive from their shaft on the Bulldog to a point on the Belmont, where they hope to get tho extension of tho (iuart;;itc vein of the Black Butte. |
